ALLIANCE for Democracy, AFORD, has fired Frank Mwenifumbo, who yesterday was voted as the party’s president and some of its top officials for inciting violence in the party.
The development was announced later in the afternoon by Enock Chihana, the party’s leader who has today been elected as a torch bearer in the forth-coming election.
During the convention which was held yesterday at Don Bosco Youth Center in Lilongwe, Chihana’s camp boycotted the election process claiming that Mwenifumbo had brought bogus delegates to vote for him.
This forced Mwenifumbo and some of the delegates to go on with the convention at another venue (area 49) where he (Mwenifumbo) was elected as the party’s leader.
But today, Chihana and his camp had another convention where he was also been selected as the party’s president.
After his re-election into power, Chihana then announced that Frank Mwenifumbo and some members like Christopher Richie have been fired from the party.
