CASTEL Malawi Brewery denies recalling a brand of Carlsberg beer, allegedly dispatched before undergoing a fermentation procedure.
A circular that has gone viral on social media indicates that the brewer is asking distributors to return a consignment of Carlsberg green that, apparently, was supposed to be fermented for a week.
The statement further claims that Castel wants vendors not to sell the beer.
A Senior Brands Manger of Castel Malawi has told The Express that the information is not true.
“Kindly note that the information in circulation is incorrect,” responded Titha Mbilizi.
The company recently refuted rumours that it is planning to raise prices of Carlsberg beer, which is probably the best beer brand in Malawi.
Castel is the leading producer and distributor of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in the country. It is owned by Groupe Castel, a French company.
The company manufacturers beverages comprising five soft drink bottling plants, a distillery and a brewery.
