MINISTER of Finance and Economic Planning and Development, Goodall Gondwe, is expected to present the 2018/19 National Budget to the National Assembly at 2PM today in Lilongwe.
It is likely that the budget will partly depend on the tobacco sales currently underway and taxes as it has been the country’s norm.
The International Monetary Fund has also recently approved an immediate loan release of K11.2 billion which will have an impact on the budget.
The public is eager to learn solutions the government spending will offer to different economic challenges rocking the country including everyday power blackouts.
The total national budget for the 2017/18 financial year was K1.3 trillion.
This year’s budget figure is expected to rise ahead of the tripartite elections that the country will hold in May next year.
