MEMBERS of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party under the Chilima Movement have backed Vice President Saulos Chilima’s decision not to contest against President Peter Mutharika at the party convention.
One of the members, Bon Kalindo explained that the movement is happy with the decision taken by the vice president and they will follow him.
In her remarks, another member Patricia Kaliati, has described the decision as a best move.
Kaliati said that the members of Chilima camp were being attacked by those who have different opinions and this time around they will be free to do anything they want as regards to their movement.
According to Kaliati, the forthcoming DPP convention could not have been fair if Chilima was to contest since the other faction had already started threatening him.
Chilima told the press yesterday that will not contest on any position at the DPP convention slated for this.
The Vice President also hinted that he is leaving the party after following procedures.
