THE AIRTEL Top 8 semi-final match between Nyasa Big Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers played on Saturday at Bingu National Stadium grossed K39.3 million.

The stadium managers and the two team received K8.3 million each.

While Football Association of Malawi, FAM, and the National Sports Council got K6.7 million and K1.6 million respectively.

In reaction, FAM says it is very disappointed with this figure.

The FAM Commercial Manager Limbani Matola claims the amount does not reflect the “record turn up” of spectators at the stadium.

Matola further says that FAM is depressed when it compares the K54.5 million which was realised last season when the two teams met in Carlsberg Cup.

He claims that last year the football body sold tickets in advance and covered stands advance tickets that time were sold at K1, 500 and K2, 000 at the gates.

he adds that this time around, tickets were at K2, 000 all round at the gates.

In his allegation, this Saturday’s gross realisation is far below K53.5 million which was raised in 2017 when Silver Strikers played against Be Forward Wanderers in Airtel Top 8 finals.

At the moment FAM has instituted investigations with the service providers to “get to the bottom of the matter.”

FAM is also going to call for a review meeting to get a clear picture the way forward.
