Khongono says the new general manager is a well recognised

THE APPOINTMENT of a seasoned economist, Lester Chinyang’anya last month as General Manager, GM, of Minet is expected to continue making the company, the broker of choice in Malawi.

This follows his vast experience in insurance firms.

A statement released on Wednesday says Chinyang’anya boasts of two decades of experience in the insurance sector having worked in reputable firms based in East Africa and in his homeland, Malawi.

Managing Director, MD,Devlin Khongono speaks highly of the new GF of operations by stating that he is a well recognised and respected leader, who takes an outcome approach and successful coaching style.

Khongono goes on expressing confidence that the former president of the Insurance Institute of Malawi will empower critical thinking and self-direction in the company.

In his statement, the MD expects clients of Minet in Malawi to support Chinyang’anya as the company continues to remain a broker of choice.

The statement says that Chinyang’anya began working in the insurance sector in 1999.

He held various managerial positions at Nico General Insurance, formerly National Insurance Company. The chartered insurer hold a BA in Social Science obtained from the University of Malawi.

Chinyang’anya, who served the Insurance Institute of Tanzania in a variety of leadership roles, also holds an MBA.

His appointment as General Manager-Operations of Minet Malawi Insurance Brokers was made on 21 May.

In November last year, Minet Malawi, formerly Aon Malawi, launched its risk, reinsurance and human resources advisory operation, consolidating the firm’s market position.

The launch of Minet followed an announcement in early 2017 that Pan- African private equity firm, Capital Works, had acquired Aon Plc’s operations across several sub-Saharan Africa countries.

In consequence, Aon’s shareholding in several countries, including Malawi, was transferred to Capitalworks.

Khongono told the press at the official launch in Blantyre that the development favourably positions the insurance broker to service the growing market riding on Capitalwork’s expertise.

South African music legend, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, graced the occasion.
