A MOTION proposing that the state broadcaster Malawi Broadcasting Corporation, MBC, must be given 1 Kwacha has been shot down by parliamentarians in Lilongwe this afternoon.
Earlier today, Malawi Congress Party, MCP, parliamentarian Sam Kawale, moved the motion in the Chamber.
During the voting, however, 74 members of parliament have voted against the order while 40 supported the motion.
This means the broadcaster will get the fully allocated amount close to K16 billion.
Opposition parties accuses MBC of favouring President Peter Mutharika’s led government in its reporting.
As of recent, there is a program called ‘Sapita Kawiri’ which the state broadcaster highlights the ill treatments that some Malawians suffered during the main opposition Malawi Congress Party one party rule.
