THE MALAWI national netball team requires close to K90 million take part in international tournaments that will qualify the team for next year’s world cup.
The funds will help the Malawi Queens to prepare and participate in Africa Netball Championships and Africa Qualifiers which will take place for five days from 13 August in Lusaka, Zambia.
These tournaments will also be used to identify four African teams that will qualify for the World Cup to be staged in the English city of Liverpool.
General Secretary of theNetball Association of Malawi, NAM, says a budget has been submitted to the government and that they arewaiting for executive approval.
Carol Bapu is very certain thatMalawi will ‘definitely’ qualify for the next year’s global showpiece.
She is, however, appealing to people of goodwill to help the national team to cover itsexpenses.
Bapu stresses that apart from the government, it is every Malawian’s responsibility to help fund the team.
The Queens are known worldwide for their excellent performance and are ranked number six in the world.
