THERE was a running battle on Sunday between suspected Democratic Progressive Party, DPP, members and The Chilima Movement followers in Thyolo over several disagreements between the two sides.
According to reports that have reached The Express, one of the reasons was the fight over a ground which Chilima supporters wanted to use.
One of the movement leaders, parliamentarian Allan Ngumuya Confirmed that they were indeed chased from the venue.
Reports further indicate that the DPP supporters seized a generator that the movement followers were using.
In retaliation, Chilima supporters started fighting back and managed to recover the seized the generator.
In the course of the incident, the movement followers spotted DPP southern region governor, Charles Mchacha, close to the location of the incident.
Mchacha was chased and his car got damaged but he escaped unhurt.
The Chilima Movement emerged from DPP in support of Vice President Saulosi Chilima as the 2019 presidential candidate and not President Peter Mutharika.
