SPEAKER of the Malawi national assembly, Richard Msowoya is reciting intolerance as one of the key reasons that have led to his immediate resignation as a member of the opposition, MCP.
He made the announcement today in a short address made during a press conference held in the capital, Lilongwe.
The parliamentarian says he is going to contest as an independent candidate in his re-election campaign for a parliamentary seat in Karonga Nyungwe constituency.
He says he is still contemplating on whether to join a political party ahead of next year’s elections.
Msowoya is calling on the media, civil society organisations and young people to continue making calls for change in the country.
He has passionately assured the people that the change that they are demanding for will come very soon.
Here is Msowoya’s speech:
This was his first media address since he was sidelined at the recently held MCP elective convention.
