MALAWI Congress Party, MCP, leader, Lazarus Chakwera has called on President Peter Mutharika to resign and pave way for early elections amid revelations that the president has been implicated in a corruption scandal.

Chakwera has made the demand at a press briefing in Lilongwe on Monday.

He has further argued that Malawians have lost trust in Mutharika’s leadership hence the call for resignation.

The President has been implicated in a Malawi Police food supply contract in which the supplier is alleged to have deposited K145 million into a Democratic Progressive Party bank account of which Mutharika is the sole signatory.
